Cantamath 2012

For 41 years the Cantamath competition has seen teams of four race against each other to answer mathematical questions. 1200 students from the Year 7 to 10 range were involved in the competition in 2012. The schools also get the chance to produce Mathematical related displays on a topic that changes yearly. In the display section for 2012 we had 33 schools enter with roughly 700 student entries.

The winners for 2012 were as follows:

Yr 7 - Cobham Intermediate: Edward Zhou, Robin Wan, Han-Young Kim, Jayavi Premaratne

Yr 8 - Heaton Normal Intermediate: Victoria Dodge, David Towse, Arlia Schurr, Seungjun Bang

Yr 9 – Christ’s College: Hamish Thomas, Tom Botting, Jared Chin, Christopher Brown

Yr 10 - Hillview Christian School: Tex Graham, Caitlin Steele, Aidan Oglivie, Declan McLister

 

Outstanding Awards in the display section went to:

Elizabeth Neill - Lincoln High School - Year 9 - Wearable Maths

Helena Feng - Westburn Primary School - Year 8 - Mathematical Models

 

Supreme Class Award:
