Welcome to Cantamath 2014

Welcome to the 44th annual Cantamath competition since 1972.

Cantamath is an important and exciting part of the school calendar for many teachers and students. It provides an opportunity for students to explore the wide world of mathematics and display their work to a Canterbury audience. Each year there is always new and fresh ideas, along with top quality work and careful presentation. The theme this year is Famous Mathematicians and it’s now time to start to consider what you would like to enter. What can you make, what could you write and most important what issues or topics relating to the theme have significance from a mathematical perspective.

Behind the scenes, much work is already being done to ensure the success of the competition. Special thanks to the Organising Committee and the many volunteers who make the event possible. Their efforts in the planning, preparation and running of the event are immense and greatly appreciated. The CMA is also grateful for the generous financial support of the sponsors – Lions Club International, Trimble, Every Educaid and Mathletics. Such an event would not take place without their support.
